Availability of nifedipine for the preparation of the following cream: nifedipine 0.3% lidocaine Hcl 1.5% cera Cetomacrogolis aquosum 15g propylene glycol 10g Vaseline

Album 22.5 g
Aqua purificata ad 100g < BR/> Nifedipine is no longer available in bulk. Adalat is only still in Oros (we don't get crushed) and in retard form. The generic product only exists in gel capsules.

Answer

We think you'll have to play it with the Gelcaps anyway. The content of 1 Gelcaps of Ratiopharm corresponds to a mass of 400 mg, which contains 10 mg nifedipine. The preparation requires 300 mg of nifedipine being 30 capsules or a content of 12g.

so take a tarred beaker of 100ml and transfer the contents of 30 Gelcaps in this beaker. Weigh this mass and fill with extra capsules to a total mass of 12g.

prepare the CR è mebasis but without propylene glycol. Place in the Beaker 1.5 g Lidoca ï neHCl and mix with the contents of the Gelcaps. Add gradually and stirring all the CR è Mebasis to the beaker.
