Can tablets Risperdal Instantsolv be shattered?

On prescription of Doctor was Risperdal Instasolv (orodispersible) 2mg indicated. Pati ë NT notices after a month that he usually takes 1 mg. For saving reasons, we made a proposal to process the melting tablets into 1 mg gelules. Can this just happen?

Answer

The case is not that simple. I find in the composition a resin (type ion exchanger), which presumably binds the resperidone. The name of the speciality is a bit misleading with instantsolv. For indeed, even though the tablet falls very quickly apart, there is probably a retardeffect. So shattering is out of the question. I have no idea of the size and weight of the 2mg tablet but if possible I would halve the tablet, possibly with a tablet splitter.
