For the diagnosis of Horner & #039; s syndrome, our ophthalmologist wishes to use a 10% cocaine collyr. We prepared our 4%-IgE Collyr previously, buffered with boric acid, and conserved with Hydroxybenzoates, but the latter do not seem to be optimal for the tolerance. Do any of you have an active and stable formulation for these heavily hypertonic eyedrops?

The efficacy of this eyedrop will increase with pH increase while and stability and solubility decreases. The pH does not exceed the value six best. Due to the much higher concentration on cocaine I suspect that the amount of borax, present in the 4% composition, will need to be increased.
