A doctor asks to make the ointment base of Protopic.

This contains: white soft paraffin; Liquid paraffin; Propylene carbonate; White beeswax; Hard Paraffin Would the proportions be reflected somewhere?

Answer

In addition to the proportions of the various ingredients, there is also the problem of propylene carbonate. This is a kind of hydrophilic solvent in the lines of DMSO and DMF. It is usually added to solve the asset. It exhibits such as DMSO and DMF as well as some toxicity. We are not going to find this product.

If we overwalk the other ingredients we find both mineral and natural fats. I think we can use a mixture of 2/3 white petroleum jelly and 1/3 liquid paraffin as a starting base. We can then add 5% beeswax to this mixture via melting. The molten mass has to slowly climb (the receptacle BV on an insulating piece of cardboard) so that everything cools down very evenly. Of course, you need to be well-stirred regularly.
