How can we best menthol solubilize in a syrup?

Problem it is not available from the appropriate solubilizers. Peg 40 Stearate is no longer there. Cremophor 35 EL available (but expensive) but I think this is not acceptable in terms of flavor. Mag Cetomacrogol 1000 for internal use?

Answer

If you would solubilize with PEG 40 stearate then it should of course also with Cetomacrogol 1000. In terms of taste, everything PEG contains is less good. Perhaps the simplest with Tween 80. I suspect that due to the presence of sugar the amount of Tween 80 can be limited. A solid solubilizing is always harder than a liquid. So it would be easier to work with mint volatile oil.
