How do I best prepare the following formula? Nystatin 600 KE Xylocaine 40 mg Triamcinolone 8 mg Aq. Dest AD 300 ml f Mouthbath

Answer

You will be obliged to make a suspension due to the lack of a soluble form of triamcinolone. For external use, Triamcinolonacetonide is invoked. Given the application, you can hardly rely on solvents such as alcohol and propylene glycol; So you can choose some thickening agent like e.g. Hydroxyethylcellulose. I suspect that 1% will be sufficient. For Xylocaine I would take the HCl salt. Nystatin, together with the Triamcinolone acetonide, I would first dilute with 10 g of starch in order to increase the volume of the unresolved fraction.
