How do I make the next preparation? Salicylic Acid 3% precipitated sulfur 3% sulpho resorcinol 3% camphor 1% aerosil 1% Tween 80 50mg isopropanol 70 20ml Aqua AD 100 ml

< br/> We have already tried a few times but the sulphur we get is not solved. Another possibility is to not dissolve sulphur and prepare a suspension with Carbopolgel or cellulose but do not stick it too much?

Answer

The sulphur you are not going to get solved! We are going to be suspended and for this I would add 1% more than Aerosil 2% Veegum or bentonite. But whether this will increase the viscosity sufficiently I cannot say for sure because I cannot estimate the effect of salicylic acid and Sulpho resorcinol and isopropanol (still 20%) on the Viscoisteit. That is why I would opt for a mucilage, taking into account that it is compatible with isopropanol. What can certainly not be used is carbopol since this reacts with salicylic acid and resorcine! Also not CMC. However, Hydroxyethyl (Natrosol) or Hydroxypropylcellulose (Klucel) are eligible for 1 à 2%.

method:
So I would mingle in a mortar: precipitated sulphur + Aerosil + Veegum + HEC or HPC. Then a quantity (e.g. 30 ml) of boiling water is added under good stirring and mixing (1).
In A beaker dissolve salicylic acid + camphor + Tween 80 in Isopropanol (2).
after cooling off (1), 2 by 1 is added under very good mixing. Then dilute with 30 ml of water in which the Sulpho resorcinol is dissolved. Eventually everything is poured into a measuring glass to rinse the mortar with the missing amount of water and to bring it to a volume of 100 ml. A treatment with a mixer is recommended.
