How do I make a solution for external use with Betamethasone dipropionate and miconazole? Betamethasone dipropionate 64mg Carbopol 0.3 g NaOH 1.5 ml after EDTA 150mg miconazole

2%
isopropanol 28g
AQ AD 100ml < BR/>

Answer

A first remark is the lack of concentration of the NaOH solution to be used.

This is a difficult requirement, which must be thoroughly analyzed.

  1. from the TMF one can learn that for the in solution keeping of 64mg Betamethasone dipropionate 70ml isopropanol is required;
  2. Miconazole is "freely soluble" in isopropanol and so I suspect that Miconazole also goes into solution and remains;
  3. Given this high concentration of "alcohol", a particular base is required for the neutralization of Carbopol; Given these are not available to the Officina pharmacist, I suggest using another viscosities enhancement substance;
  4. replace Carbopol 0.3 g by Hydroxypropylcellulose 400 0.5 g;
  5. in consequence delete 1.5 ml NaOH
As far as the method of preparation is concerned, it can broadly be used from the hydro-alcoholic solution of Betamethasone dipropionate in the TMF.
