How do I prepare 100ml EDTA 17% solution for tooth root rinse?

The solubility in water lies in the order of 1 to 11. According to the dentist, I have to do the solution in a plastic bottle and not in a glass. Is that correct?

Answer

The Merck Index mentions Dinatrium, tri-and tetra sodium EDTA. If Bassron delivers the Eur Pharm. Quality, this is the etidronate disodium salt (MW 336). The Trisodium (MW 358) has a higher solubility. By adding sodium carbonate (or NaOH) the Disalt can be converted into the tri. The required quantity can easily be calculated: A 1/2 Na2CO3 for 1 dinatrium. A plastic bottle is indeed the best packaging for this solution.
