I have been prescribed the following preparation from a hospital: DMSO 50% Cream dt a tube.

What basis can I use here? The CR è me is intended to apply to the hand joints. I am particularly asking about the consistency of the CR è me: Given the high content of liquid.

Answer

Your concern is not unjustifiably. The application of the cream can be painful for the patient so that in the severe cases a solution with 50% DMSO is in water.

You can use the following composition:

DMSO 50g Carbomer 980 0.5 g Cetomacrogol 1.4 G Cetostearyl alcohol 5.6 G Reage. Paraffin wax 6g Propylene glycol 5g White Vaseline 14g Water up to 100g

First make the 50 g cream and put the 50 g DMSO in it.
