Loco for Bacicoline ear drops.

Answer

Bacicoline came as a gelyofilized product. Contains after reconstitution per ml: 250,000 E (approximately 20mg) Colistimethaatsodium, 500E bacitracin (approximately 8mg) and 10mg hydrocortisone acetate. Colistimethaansodium is not available as a bulk product. You could replace this with Polymixine B. It is not so difficult to find the usual dosage for these products. The preparation is not so simple considering we have to do with a suspension. But the therapeutic indications indicate combating inflammatory signs and infections of the external auditory canal: otitis externa diffusa, secondary infected eczemas of the external auditory canal, such as eczema seborrhoicum and Atopic eczema, caused by bacitracin and colistin susceptible bacteria. So these ear drops don't have to be really sterile. We prepare them under low-germinated conditions with an ampoule of physiologically serum in a sanitized mortar and with a disinfecte pestle. The solution is packaged in a sterile eye dropper bottle.
