A pharmacist reports to me a problem with following preparation: Salicylic Acid 2g Lanettewas 5g (o/w) cetyl alcohol 1.5 g (w/O) Cetaceum 1.5 g yellow Vaseline 30g water ad

100g < br/> The pharmacist reports that no good emulsion can be formed; Both with Lanette N and Lanette SX, the emulsion is cabled.]

Answer

An exchange of Lanette N by SX does not make any difference in principle the two self-emulsifying waxes differ. I propose to replace half of the yellow petroleum jelly with liquid paraffin so that the viscosity of the internal phase is adjusted. Also, in the presence of salicylic acid, I would increase the amount of active O/W emulsifier and add additional 0.5 to 1 G after lauryl or cetostearyl sulfate.
