Preservation Minoxidil

The Martindale mentions that minoxidil is slightly sensitive. In the TMF this is not mentioned, but is stored in glass bottle. Is this because the degradation can be neglected by light?

Answer

What the Martindale mentions is correct. There are two publications on this matter. The first controlled the light stabilite under     exposure to fluorescent light. The Stabilitite increased   when the solution is packaged in Inactinic glass. I cannot consult the full study. The second study packaged the solution in white glass bottles and preserved those at temperatures between 50 and 80 ° C. The bright yellow solution was more yellow during storage. Converted to room temperature The authors came to a shelf life of half a year.

Given the TMF guarantees a shelf life of two months (the controls were limited to 2 months!) It is probably not absolutely necessary to shield the solution from the light. But clients only have the organoleptic properties to assess a preparation. And the slightest discoloration may create suspicion. So perhaps it is best to provide measures to shield the solution from direct light.
