Problem with W/O cream with urea and sodium chloride: Urea 4g sodium chloride 4g Paneucerine Aqua AD 100g

After a few weeks, water leaks from the tube. We have tried different methods of preparation, but the same happens each time. Both with the Paneucerine the Aqua (40% H2O) and with the self-prepared base. If we do the ointment 5 times in succession through the ointment mill, the ointment remains stable for longer.

Answer

Both urea and NaCl are water-attracting compounds, which are believed to adversely affect the stability of the W/O cr è me ï. I advise you to use only 25% water as this also occurs at lanolin (wool grease + 25% water).
