A replacement of methyl testosterone methyl testosterone 1g Prednisolone 1g Cold Cream ad 100g FSA ointment.

Methyl Testosterone is, however, out of trade. Can this be replaced by testosterone propionate and if so, in the same concentration?

Answer

I suspect that it is not here intended to increase the testosterone plasma levels via topical pathway, given the combination with Prednisolone. Use of methyl testosterone on the skin is exceptional; Methyl testosterone seems to be used predominantly orally. For a comparison, we can base ourselves on the partition coefficient. I found:

methyltestosterone Log P = 2.32 Testosterone 3.22 (good value for transdermal absorption according to Determinden) Testosterone Propionate 4.7

The closest is so testosterone. Based on these values, we would be inclined to use less testosterone propionate. But concentrations in ointments and creams of 1 even 2% are specified. It now depends on what is available testosterone or testosteronpropionate.
