Solution against hair loss with Minoxidil 5%, melatonin 0.2% and 17-alpha-estradiol 0.1%.

A doctor asks us to make the following preparation: Minoxidil 5% Melatonin 0.2% 17-estradiol Alpha 0.1% Propylene Glycol 35% Ethanol 96% 30% Aqua purificata AD 100% Is it possible to solve 5% minoxidil? We also ask about the use, efficacy and safety of melatonin in a topical preparation? And can 17-alpha-estradiol be processed in it?

Answer

regarding your question about melatonin, I would like to refer you to a detailed report on this product

http://ec.europa.eu/health/scientific_committees/consumer_safety/docs/sccs_o_022.pdf

you will find the answer to your question there.

I suggest you to focus on the composition communicated by Apoth Bart Van Ghyseghem on the question box. Its composition contains: Minoxidil 5%, Cetomacrogol 5%, propylene glycol 20%, water 10% and alcohol up to 100 ml

Preparation method: Cetomacrogol melt at 60 à 70 ° C-minoxidil Add and homogenous mixing-add propylene glycol and   stirring to as much as possible dissolved-add mixture of water and ethanol and continue stirring until complete   solution..

I would add melatonin and 17-alpha estradiol after adding propylene glycol and then most of the ethanol. Water is added at the end and to finish we bring on volume with   ethanol.
