Question

Posted on: March 6 2013

We have been asked to prepare EUSOL paraffin.

Unfortunately, I only find the following composition: Sodium hypochlorite solution 50g, white beeswax 0.5 g, vl. Paraffin 49.5 g (contains 0.25% active chlorine).
I would like to ask whether this formula matches and whether a special method of preparation is covered.

Answer

Sometimes one meets an analogue composition without wax. Apparently one uses a very simple composition and this has to do with the presence of hypochlorite, a very aggressive product. With or without wax (which I would retain) we obtain a little stable emulsion. A shaking for use will be absolutely necessary as well as a short retention period. In the preparation, the hypochlorite should NOT be warmed up;
