Question

Posted on: October 1 2013

We prepared a mouthwash. However, the patient complains about the taste and would have liked us to have a flavour. We thought of raspberry aroma, but this is sour. Can this hurt?

Constituents: hydrocortisone acetate, lidocaine base, Nystatin, propylene glycol, HPMC, and water

Answer

To begin with, I would replace one third of the amount of water with sugar syrup. To this sugar syrup you can add the appropriate amount of raspberry synthetic extract or also mint Spiritus for the preparation of mint syrup or strong orange peel tincture for the preparation of orange peel syrup.
