Why so many different concentrations for chlorhexidine in the gamma preparations?

Answer

  1. chlorhexidine 0.05% in water is mainly intended for compresses. Due to non-exclude side reactions during prolonged use on open wounds, a low concentration is recommended. On the other hand, 0.5% in alcohol is the disinfectant par excellence for undamaged skin. This higher concentration presumably takes into account the shorter entry time.
  2. for Cr è Knife and other liquid preparations the concentration is usually 1%. As CR è Mebasis, Cetomacrogol TMF cannot be used. Only a CETOMACROGOLCR è me WITHOUT preservative is eligible there otherwise an incompatibility occurs, which gives rise to a grey discoloration.
  3. for some applications (see commented medicines directory) as vaginal, even higher concentrations are used.
