Question
Posted on: March 6 2013Following preparation for wound care was prescribed: Zn oxide 60g-oleic acid 39.4 G-almond oil 0.6 g. Ointment 100g
After contact with the doctor, Oleic acid (unknown) is substituted for the oil. After an hour, however, this ointment becomes very warm and hard.
Answer
First of all, I would like to note that oleic acid is the correct name and that it is used in an incorrect manner. I suspect that your problem is caused by an exchange of quantities and that the prescription reads as follows: ZnO 60g, oleic acid 0.6 g and sweet almond oil 39.4 g.
