Posted on: December 13 2016Question by Dermatologe: Salicylic acid 10% in Efudix: Does the cream remain stable? Do the active ingredients remain stable?
Otherwise, she would switch to Verrumal
Answer
In a previous reply, the discoloration was attributed to a reaction of salicylic acid with e.g. Fe ions and therefore the proposal EDTA Insert. You ask yourself questions about the stability of the active ingredient. But 5-fluouracil is quite stable in acidic solutions = salicylic acid; and is very little soluble in water. So.............................. ..........
Verrumal also contains 5-fluouracil but I can say if the doctor wants to switch to Verrumal with addition of salicylic acid, Try and see if there is any discoloration whatsoever. One never knows.
