Can and why is salicylic acid added to BV. Diprosone or Betnelan lotion?

Answer

The addition of salicylic acid to corticosteroid-containing preparations has to do with the percutaneous absorption, which is increased. If salicylic acid is added to the specialties, an ionogenic incompatibility occurs by reaction of salicylic acid with the Carbopol present in the preparations.

Solution:

The omission of Carbopol from the composition offers a solution. Since both of the active components of the two lotions are available in bulk, the pharmacist should replace the prescribed speciality with their own loco preparation. As a lotion base, the Cetomacrogol lotion from the FN 6 can be recommended. Salicylic acid is mixed with the trituration of the corticosteroid and finely rubbed. Afterwards, the powder mixture is gradually rubbed with the lotion base.

Note:

if the viscosity is found to be too low, then 5 G Vaseline can be added to the composition of the Cetomacrogol lotion with a reduction in the amount of water with 5 G.
