We have a prescription preparation of a lavement with Sucralfaat 10% 20 ml, 20 PCs. We found in Micromedex a preparation method with a solution methyl cellulose 10% and Ulcogant 1g 100 tablets. Is that 10% realistic?
Answer
The obtained viscosity depends on the type of methyl cellulose used for which there is an optimal concentration. I suspect that the methyl cellulose that is available corresponds to the type 400. I would add 1% of this. After all, there is also a large amount of bulking, which comes from the tablets.
