The following preparation has been made for a long time, but it has problems lately.

A helgreen solution of the past is now getting brown discoloration after a month. How a change of the origin of a constituent can give problems!

Answer

Composition:
R/Thiocol 4g
Na-benzoate 4g
Ephedrine HCL 300 mg
Coffeine 300 mg
Ethanol 4 mL
Menthol 50 mg
vanillin 100 mg
dextromethorphan Hbr 400 mg
Eucalyptol 50 mg
belladonna TCT 1g
Aconitum TCT 1g
Green Dye 1.3 mg (see Eucalyptol syrup FN VI)
Sir. Simplex AD 200 mL

Answer (because of the question box):
We suspect vanillin as a culprit.

Answer (from pharmacist of Look):
The solution was pretty straightforward. Vanillin is the disturbing factor. If it is left out, the problem of discoloration is solved. The current used vanillin is now from the brand Alpha Pharma and in the past certainly not. But the latter can no longer be obtained!
