How to avoid the discoloration of the paste contra aphtas NF 6?

Answer

(with the help of Apoth. J. Maesschalck)

In the appendix to the book Carbomeren (author Plaizier Vercammen) is highlighted the possibility of a reaction between an aldehyde and benzocaine with formation of a SCHIFFSE base. Examples of substances, containing aldehydes are vanillin, lemon oil in which geranial, neral and other aldehydes occur.

Find an alternative is not simply seen many volatile oils, which are used in the pharmacy as Taste Corrigentia, contain aldehydes. As alternative flavorings can be named: Anise Oil (anethol) and mint oil (menthol). According to our searches, no aldehydes are present in both volatile oils. Of course, this answer still requires some tests in order to determine which concentrations should be used as well as whether or not discoloration develops.
