How do I make Lipothene 133?

Composition: 93.1% paraffin oil, 6% polyethylene and 0.9% Butylhydroxytoluene
If there is no identical product available, I may be able to make it myself. Can I use polyethylene glycol? Which one? The description of Lipothene 133 = a lipophilic, oleaginous vehicle that is soft, unctuous, colorless and oily-jelly-like substance, which exhibits excellent lubricant and emollient properties.

Answer

I do not know if you have my booklet Galenic formulary in your possession? But if you look under the fatty ointment bases you will find this base as an alternative to petroleum jelly. Polyethylene glycol cannot be used for polyethylene. The polyethylene is not found in the normal circuit and also the ointment base, which can be found in Germany. But at what cost? That is why I suggest you: Look in the TMF and in this book a mixture of petroleum jelly with liquid paraffin is located between the fatty ointment bases. I recommend you to make this. We are in close proximity! I would not do the BHT; I see no reason.
