How do I prepare the following formula without precipitation? Glycerin 30 g borax 10 g Aqua rosae 55 g Benzoe TT 5 G

Everything goes well until the Benzoe TT is added then a precipitation is placed at the top.

Answer

You have to do here with a precipitation of the resin acids from the benzoetincture in the form of non-diffusible solids. There are three methods to solve the problem:
  1. stabilize the precipitation with a protective Collo ï the
  2. solubilize
  3. the conditions of precipitation so set that a stable Collo ï Dale solution is obtained.
The least time-consuming method is number 1. Apply 200 mg of tragacanth in a dry mortar; Weigh 5 g glycerin in the mortar and, after moistening the tragacanth with glycerin, add 10 ml of rosewater to form a clot of free mucus. Then dilute with 20 ml of rosewater. Weigh the benzoetincture in a dry spoon and gradually transfer it into the mortar making sure that the tincture does not pass on the pestle or on the walls of the mortar. Dissolve borax in the remaining rose water, add to this dissolving the rest of the glycerin, transfer all this into the mortar and mix.
