How do we prepare best esomeprazole syrup 2 mg/ml?

We received a prescription for esomeprazole syrup 2mg/ml for a child. Dose = 5 ml. Esomeprazole does not exist in Vrac, so we must assume the speciality. These seem to be capsules with coated pellets. How do we start here and can we also prepare a good syrup?

Answer

As Omeprazole is also esomeprazole prone to heartburn and consequently the pharmaceutical forms are provided with an enteric coating.

Personally I would go for esomeprazole EG to 20 mg.. The composition of this tablet is very similar to the "Mups". Given the dose is 10 mg, we can halve the tablet and apply the method of administration described on the package leaflet for patients with swallowing problems.

If the administration is difficult for each spoon, the contents of the teaspoon (10 ml) can be transferred into a small syringe and can then, after insertion into the child's mouth, be emptied. Adding a drop of Natrena may be desirable?
