I am asked a loco Calmoseptine

The composition of Calmoseptine reads: Menthol 0, 5g; Phenol 0, 5g; Zinc oxide 16g; Glycerin 18g; Lanoline 10g; Cetomacrogol Cream AD 100g Is that phenol really necessary? Because that makes the difference between refunded and non-refundable. Not refunded it is a pretty expensive cream (€25.40).

Answer

I understand your concern for the cost price for your customer. Indeed €25.4 is a nice amount. I hear the pharmacists always complain about their fee.

If you delete phenol from the composition, you will still have to provide another antiseptic substance, which of course   the refund, not vehindert. Possible suggeesties are Benzalkonium chloride, Cetrimide, Chlorhexidinediacetate, Neomycin and PVP-I2.

The presence of lanolin is also peculiar to me. In order to disturb the O/W cream as little as possible, I would interpret lanolin in its true meaning of wool grease + 25% water.
