I get next prescription benzyl benzoate 75g cetylstearyl alcohol BFV 18g cetomacrogol 1000 12g Aqua ad 300g

In the TMF is on p167 an analogue task but with the addition of liquid paraffin. Why is that paraffin added? I made the preparation without paraffin and so I have a nice milk, but there is foam on it. If paraffin is still necessary for stability, what quantity do you propose. Also, the ratio Cetomacrogol/cetylstearyl alcohol in this preparation is different than in the TMF...

Answer

You are at the right address because the formula in the TMF is my design. Indeed you used four times more Z.E. Cetomacrogolwas than in the TMF. This is the cause of the foam. Also I suppose that your milk is quite viscous.
If I tell you that Benzyl benzoate has a high density, which is causing the instability, then you can guess why there is SLIGHT liquid paraffin (an equal amount as the Benzyl benzoate!) is added to the internal phase of the emulsion.
