I have to make a tar ointment here in the pharmacy: Iodine 8g KI 4g Lanette 10 Pix liquida (coal tar) 10 Ung. Simplex AD 100

Normally the amount of KI should be double as that of Jew. Reversed here. How can I make this ointment without precipitation??

Answer

For 1 mol Jew we use 1 mol KI which means 5.25 g KI for 8g Jew.

I would compose the ung. Simplex itself. This gives the opportunity to mix coal tar with petroleum jelly; KI and iodine are mixed and dissolved in 10 ml of water and this solution is mixed with the amount of wool fat to be used. Then both parts are mixed together.
