I need to prepare a syrup for administration to a dog of vitamin K

To the extent that 5 ml syrup contains 37 mg vitamin K, which should be given at 2x per day. Menadian sodium bisulphite was found to be water soluble and soluble in alcohol according to Martindale 1/60. 2.22 G Vit K indeed solves well in 150 ml of alcohol and with addition of Sirupus simplex to 300 cc This preparation seemed OK. The next day, crystallization took place, so this syrup could not be delivered.

Answer

There is apparently a contradiction between the Merck Index and the Martindale. The Merck Index gives as solubility in alcohol slightly soluble. So why so much alcohol? Halve the amount of alcohol and replace it with water. The dog will the syrup still lusts? It's a Duvel!
