Joodpovidone is missing. Can I prepare a kind of Isobetadine paste assuming iodine tincture?

Composition of the preparation Joodpovidone 10%, Vaseline 150g, sesame oil 60g and zinc oxide 90g. But how to convert? In the Merck, I do not find any data on% iodine in that polymer structure.

Answer

Joodpovidone contains about 10% iodine so there is 1 g of iodine in your preparation.

1 g of iodine can be found in 15.5 g Jew tincture. But this alcoholic solution get mixed with the other ingredients, seems to me very difficult if not impossible.

Therefore, I would try to mix the iodine tincture with 9 g polyvinyl and the whole dry vapors under light heating. E.g. porcelain dish on radiator. Occasionally stir!

If all alcohol is evaporated then we have a powder that approaches to some extent joodpovidone. There now no more alcohol is present (or yet bitter little) can ZnO,   that was sieved beforehand to remove all agglomerates,     be mixed with this powder. Then I would then introduce sesame oil and eventually petroleum jelly.
