Next formula for Diazepamrectiols: Diazepam 10mg benzoeic 2.4 mg propylene glycol 0.9 cc ethanol 94 0.3 cc NA-benzoate 100mg aq dist/Purif AD 2cc

Last I got the question of whether there is a specific reason to use Na-benzoate as a preservative instead of aqua Conservans? I cannot actually find an answer to this. Can you possibly help?

Answer

I suspect that the choice rests on the solution-enhancing properties of nabenzate. The right mechanism here is not known to me. It can be complex formation e.g. at Coffe ë NE.
