A nurse flushes some deep wounds with physiologically serum and he would like to add something ontsmettends that is compatible like Isobetadine.

Since both Hg, alkali ë N, thiosulfate, Ag and H 2 O 2 are all incompatible, I thought at Hibitane to find the solution. Of the 5% speciality we would add 5ml to a bottle of physiologic serum of 0.5 L. However, this gives a pink flaky precipitation. Statement? Solution?

Answer

The formation of a precipitate is not surprising considering chlorhexidine, active ingredient in Hibitane, is incompatible with chlorides. I see rather a possibility in the use of a substance as benzalkonium chloride.
