Please advise on the preparation method of the following recipe with Salazopyrine EC:

Salazopyrine EC 25 Comp of 500mg vanillin 100mg ethanol 90 ° 4cc after CMC 200mg Sir simplex ad 200ml < br/> Can ORA-SWEET solution be used instead of vanilinel/ethanol/CMC/syrup?

Answer

Salazopyrine contains sulfasalazine, product which in contrast with Mesalazine is not available in bulk. So we will have to crush the tablets possibly with an electric coffee grinder. After grinding, the powder mixture is sieved to remove the pieces of coating. I note that we can make use of the following validated wording from the Netherlands.

R/sulfasalazine 12.5 g Citric acid 1.2 g Na citrate 9.4 g Veegum 1.0 g After CMC 1.0 g Vanillin 100mg Ethanol 94 ° 4ml Nipagine 140mg Sugar syrup 60g Water up to 200ml

Veegum and CMC are mixed with the powder mixture "Salazopyrine", which is rubbed off with a small amount of freshly boiled water in which citric acid and Nacitraat are dissolved. Subsequently, ethanol, in which vanillin and Nipagine were dissolved, is added. To finish, sugar syrup should be added and brought to volume with freshly boiled water.

Outside time saving I see no benefit in using Ora Sweet. Could you use it to replace the sugar syrup, if this does not make any problems for the intervention of the RIZIV? But we also have to take into account the fact that this is a suspension, which should also be buffered for the stability of sulfasalazine, if not discoloration occurs after a few days.

Storage When stored at room temperature, the microscopic image was barely different from that of a freshly prepared suspension after 3 months. The turmoil remains good. The maximum usage is 1 year.
