Please provide an acceptable formulation for a main lotion with following composition: Hydrocortisone 150mg, Neomycinesulf. 105mg, Nystatin 500mg, rubbing alcohol 10ml, water ad 30ml

Answer

Taking into account the solubilities of the various constituents either in water or in alcohol, it seems to me impossible to prepare a solution. Probably that certain constituents in the solvent mixture will go into solution while others do not. I also don't expect a change in the ratio of water/alcohol to miracles.

Consequently, we will have to proceed to the preparation of a suspension. Given the presence of alcohol I would opt for hydroxypropylcellulose. It is most likely that HPMC     because the amount of rubbing alcohol is only one third of the total. The quantity to be used is difficult to estimate because we do not know which viscosity type is in stock in the pharmacy. For HPMC this will be 4,000 and may (?)   than 200 mg may suffice. A too viscous suspension is not ideal for an application on the skull skin.
