How can metronidazole be brought into solution? If the cream is not sufficiently machined with the ointment mill, it gives a slightly abrasive sensation on the skin.

What you have before is an example of how a powder, which is always suspected of being fine, is still insufficient. Dissolving will only bring you into trouble because the added solvent will disturb the stability of the cool ointment. Grind the metronidazole finely in a coffee grinder and then work dry in the cool ointment.
