Preparation of Minoxidil 5% OPL with Cetomacrogol 1000 and isopropanol still gives crystallization.

Is isopropanol instead of ethanol a possible cause?

Answer

The solubility of minoxidil in methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, 1-butanol, and water was investigated in The temperature range from (278.15 to 333.15) K by a gravimetrical method. The Mole fraction Solubility is a function of temperature and increases with an increase of temperature. At the same temperature, the mole fraction solubility decreases in the order: Methanol > 1-propanol > 1-butanol > Ethanol > 2-propanol > water.   2-propanolol = isopropanol   Soluble in water (2.2 mg/ml), 100% ethanol (29 mg/ml), propylene glycol, acetone, DMSO (6.5 mg/ml), and methanol. so
