A problem with an emulsion, which contains stearic acid: Lactic acid DL 3g sulfur colloidal 9g prednisolone 0.9 g triamcinolone-acetonide 30mg paraffin oil 30g stearic acid

25.5 g
Tween 20 9g
saponin caoltar 9g
Aqua ad 300cc < BR/> In a beaker we bring paraffin, stearic acid, Tween and most of the water. We are heating this. Because this is rather crumbling, we are still doing some extra Tween. However, this remains crumbling. How can we emulsify this nicely?

Answer

I would replace one third of the stearic acid with Lanette O or cetostyearyl alcohol that is usually used to form a complex emulsifier. For the preparation, water and fat phase are heated separately. I would start by preparing the emulsion and after cooling the remaining products mix and add the emulsion to this mixture.
