Question related to glycerin-wound dressing.

I got the question from a veterinarian for the formula of ' glycerol bandage ointment ' that would be used for burns? So far, he did not meet the exact formula.

we wonder if that is simply UNGUENTUM GLYCEROLI PBV or that there is another formula.

Answer

(thanks to the help of Apoth. J. Gabriel) I suspect the link that the veterinarian is looking for is Elasto-Gel related. According to the Compendium, this would also exist in Belgium. But as usually for those things, cheap it won't be. So your proposal is very good and presumably less expensive. Elasto-Gel consists of 65% glycerin and a gelvormer namely polyacrylamide. This is then replaced by starch, a natural product (!), which can also work as an ad or absorbent for wound fluid.
