Question
Posted on: January 30 2017Toothpaste is too firm and risks breaking the engine of the ointment roller.
Formula:
NaCl 20g
After bicarbonate 60
Glycerin 17.5 ml
Water 7.5 ml
This preparation is so solid that it cannot be machined with the ointment grinder. Himself on the widest space between the reels he crashes.
We made the pasta at the highest speed with a Topitec but the consistency/grain size is not good. The grains are apparently not sticking to each other, which separates a layer of water/glycerin.
Answer
The few data, which I can find, make me decide that the consistency strength of toothpastes based on NaHCO3, depends heavily on the properties of the quality used to bicarbonate: particle size, shape......
In addition, I found no addition of NaCl back. Given the therapeutic application, the prescribing physician may agree to the omission of salt. The released quantity can be replaced by water. Maybe 20 g is too much. So it is consulted when adding water with small quantities to proceed and do not add water once an acceptable consistency is achieved.
