The urologists ins our hospital use Protargol 5% for blowing instillations. They would like to have this in stock on the consultation. How can I sterilize this solution and how long is it stable?

< br/> In Martindale, Merck Index and Dorvault I always find that this solution is fresh. Is this for chemical reasons and for microbiological reasons?

Answer

After a long wait, I received a reply from a Spanish manufacturer of silver compounds to my request for information.
I can confirm that a solution of Silver Proteinate is itself pure and without microbies. On the other hand, if you want to filtrate, silver proteinate is totally soluble in the water, so that, it would pass through the filter and the Bacterias would stay on the filter, so that this could be a possibility of eliminating bacterias from the solution.
