Question

A veterinarian asks me to make an injectable ampoules with Oestradiolbenzoaat (for horse) which he wants to keep in stock.

Unfortunately We do not have a LAF cabinet, nor an autoclave.. After some looking up work I thought to proceed as follows. Arachide oil 1u op150 ° in oven under alumium foil; Flapule (which are not sterile packaged) with alcohol disinfecting; Add Oestradiolbenzoaat to peanut oil and fill it in flapule and pinch with pliers. Is this a good method or should additional measures be taken? Questions -Should the Flapule be sterilized in a better way? -Is It advisable to add benzyl alcohol due to the shelf life (and also solubility) and if so what concentration? 2%? -Is peanut Oil the best choice or would ricinus oil or sesame oil be a better choice?

Answer

The Flapulle   can better sterilize you in a boiling pressure pan for 30 minutes after steam escapes from the valve. The Flapulle   is   wrapped in a sterilisation pouch. After sterilization it should be thoroughly dried in a hot air oven. The Martindale says: "Oily solutions   of oestradiolbenzoate can be is by maintaining one hour at 150 °c". Benzyl alcohol can be added at a concentration of 2%.
