Posted on: March 6 2013We must prepare the regulation of losec syrup. But a discoloration occurs!
Normally this syrup has a pink color. Recently we got the question again to prepare the syrup and it was not picked up immediately. After about 3 days this syrup had a purple color. It was the first time that we observed this color in this syrup. What could be the cause of this discoloration (pink colour from pellet colour) and can this syrup still be given? It has already been considered to suspend the pellets without grinding.

Indeed this discoloration seems to be due to the instability of a constituent in the coating of the pellets. There are now several capsules available with omeprazole pellets outside the MUPS system. Maybe those don't give the problem. In addition, there is also the bulk powder. Suspending the pellets as such is not a luck and in addition, the discoloration also occurs.
