What is the function of Tween in the following preparation?

Salicylic Acid 5% Tween 80 5% Clobetasol propionate 0.05% Ung emulsif amic Aqua AD 100% Tween is not necessary as an emulsifier Is it added to strengthen the functioning of the active substances? The cream is applied to the scalp. Maybe for the adsorbtion to the scalp?

Answer

The   concetracy of salicylic acid is high and can possibly negatively affect the stability of the cream. Although Tween may not be the best choice,   Tween is added to compensate for this. Also, Tween facilitates the breakdown of the cream on the scalp and the washing out of the cream.   The TMF also describes a similar salicylic acid cream but uses water-free emulsifying ointment without adding Tween. We can advise you to start with the beriding of the excipeins and to add the medicines only afterwards. Clobetasol Propionate is previously mixed with 2.5 g of lactose. This mixture is mixed under the Salicylzzur. In   This powder mixture, excipient are gradually mixed.  .
