What is the value of so saying "already coated" or gastric juice resistant hard gelatin capsules?

Answer

Indeed it does the round within pharmaceutical circles (pharmacists, firms...) that, when a gastric juice resistance is requested,   hard gelatin capsules are in stock, which should no longer be encased. But it must be pointed out that this is not a current issue.

Can be produced by Capsugel DR capsules, the wall of which is composed of hypromellose and Gellan gum. But these capsules do not correspond to the requirements for gastric juice resistant capsules of the Eur Pharm.

If gastric juice resistant capsules need to be prepared in the pharmacy then this should still be done by enveloping them with cellulosic acetate (CAP), which we dissolve in e.g. acetone. The capsules are immersed in this solution. This happens in two turns.

Meanwhile, the company Capsugel has carried out further research into capsules, which will be considered to be real gastric juice resistant. The tests are in their final phase and soon these capsules, which will meet the requirements of the Pharmacopoeia, will be commercialised.
