Next syrup sometimes gives problems. Ventolin syrup 75ml Pholcodine 150mg Ethanol 3ml pseudoephedrine 300mg ascorbic acid 1g sugar syrup AD 200ml

I loose pholcodine and pseudoephedrine on in ethanol. I add a part of Sirupus simplex. I dissolve ascorbic acid in water and add to the rest of the preparation. Then I add ventolin syrup and Sir Simpl. Sometimes, not always, a slimy solution arises on top of the syrup. What can be the cause and what is the solution for this.

Answer

You should have overrun the composition of Ventolin syrup and then you would have determined that the slimy solution that floats above is nothing but the hypromellose, which is emitted. You have about 125 ml of sugar syrup to add. For this I would take 50 ml of water and 75 ml of sugar syrup. I also do not see the usefulness of ascorbic acid. In my opinion, this is a composition from which Promethazine HCl was omitted. With Promethazine, ascorbic acid has meaning.
