Question

Posted on: March 6 2013

In terms of magistal preparations, we know the gelules and the syrup as administration of methadone to drug addicts.

The official texts speak for example of "suitable" swelling agents for capsules. Is there an officially accepted composition for the syrup? < br/>

Answer

For the problem associated with the delivery of capsules please consult the question box under the questions about CMC in Methadon-Gelulen  . One can also add methylene blue to the capsules and some recommend the use of kaolin as filler. All this to make the preparation of an injection impossible. In my opinion, the addition of Aerosil would also be eligible.

For an official composition of a syrup it is not clear whether an episode of a standardised volume or a standardised dose should be chosen.

A standardized dose would give the following formula

methadonHCl 220mg Single Syrup 50ml Aroma??? Freshly cooked purified water up to 100 ml

Another but more strongly concentrated formula is

methadonHCl 0.5 g Citroen spiritus 0.2 ml Sugar syrup 30ml Glycerin 10ml Nipagine-Nipasol 0.1% Citric acid 1g water to 100 ml

Of course these formulas can give rise to inject. Increasing viscosity and adding a dye is recommended in such cases.

Apparently a story without end because of the good not only pharmacological but also physico-chemical knowledge of drug addicts!
