Question

Posted on: March 6 2013

We have a oral gel to prepare based on capsaicin 0.025% to treat "burning mouth" syndrome.

We can only obtain capsitic oil resin on the market (2% capsaicin). Can this be used?? In an art of 1994 I find back that capsaicin does not cause vasodilation, unlike the capsitic oil resin??? Capsaicin is not available on the Belgian market and the doctor prefers not to use capsitic oil resin. Via APB I am on the trail of a specialty based on Capsicine under the heading capsaicin. I am not yet sure whether this is a mistake. Because according to Prof Depaepe (VUB) Capsicine is irritating and capsaicin only responsible for the feeling of warmth. So I now have to obtain further information from the Spanish company that distributes that product.

Answer

& #039; capsaicin & #039; is available at Sigma . But this is not, according to the law, the company Sigma Aldrich does not have a license number for this product and also no analysis report, delivered by a certified laboratory! The law makes us very difficult!!

But I also found interesting information on this webpage (http://www.bcfi.be/Folia/1999/F26N09C.cfm) . Perhaps contact the documentation Service of APB, which may inform you about where and how to enter from UK or with the editors of the Folia.

the mentioned specimen should be diluted from 0075 to 0.025%. In my opinion, this is the good product in any case, given the applications.
